Frankly, with deep sincerity I confess I do not know anywhere in the world a man who could write and speak with great art and talent of these fishermen and publicans, who wrote the gospel. I venture to say that no one is able to write like the Gospel narrative that is so simple and yet so sublime, so fresh, so poignant, possessing such a powerful impact on the soul and not weakened over the centuries and expressed in every one, even minor Gospel notice, taken separately, about the sufferings and death of Jesus Christ.
